I don't believe in a cold and clinical approach whilst working with clients, which is how many people think counselling might feel! My main priority is to connect with people so they feel they are talking to a real person.
Reaching out for support takes a lot of courage, and sending that first email can feel like the toughest step. As someone who has received my own personal therapy, I really believe that knowledge is power, and the more I can help you to understand what is going on for you, the more control you will feel over your own life.
I have experience of counselling in both the NHS and educational settings, and have worked with adults of all ages with wide ranging issues, including grief, anxiety and depression, attachment issues, physical and psychological abuse and stress. I also have extensive experience working within the adult health and social care sector.
I am an individual member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I am passionate about expanding my own toolbox by regularly engaging in further training and CPD.
I also adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
Qualifications:
Each individual client is completely unique, and so I believe in adapting my approach to suit each person, and meet them where they are at.
Therapy is about bringing awareness to your inner experiences; this is the first step in enabling us to feel less stuck as we begin to form an understanding of why we feel and behave the way we do.
Counselling gives us a toolbox we can use to gain a better understanding of what’s causing the problems we are facing, and how we can move towards managing or resolving them.
As a counsellor my style is naturally warm and grounding; I work compassionately and without any judgement.
People come to me for help with a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:
My role is not to diagnose or cure you; I am here to work alongside you as we explore together what is keeping you from moving forward.
Our sessions together will last for 50 minutes, usually taking place on a weekly or fortnightly basis, but the frequency of sessions can be reviewed. In person, online and telephone appointments are £55. Payment for each session must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
I provide a free 15 minute initial assessment on the phone, so we can chat through what brings you to counselling, and whether we feel we are a good fit for one another. You can book your initial assessment by emailing me directly, at sarahmansontherapy@proton.me.
Cancellations: If you cancel 24 hours or less before your session, you will still be required to pay the full cost of the session. If you cancel between 24 and 48 hours before, you will be required to pay a £10 cancellation fee. You will not be asked to pay if you cancel with more than 48 hours notice.
I accept payment in cash or by bank transfer.
I am based in Inverness city centre and see clients from both here and the wider Highland region.
In addition to providing face-to-face therapy, I also offer telephone counselling and online sessions for clients throughout the UK. Please contact me if you would like to find out more about how online counselling works.
Feel free to contact me using this form, or by emailing me at sarahmansontherapy@proton.me.
This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
All enquires are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential and uses secure phone and email services.
